Baby steps.

I've been forcing myself outside my comfort zone quite a bit lately. Little changes here and there i.e. going to Bikram by myself, when I would normally wait for someone to go with me. Arriving alone to meet up with people (something I would never do before) for St. Patrick's day. Why have I always been so afraid to do things alone? When I look back at all the ways that I've let fear stop me from doing what I want in the past its mind blowing. I guess without the realization there would be no need for change, so I've got that going for me.

This is the bartender I yelled at to take a picture with me on St. Patrick's Day...I liked his commitment.

Recently my friend Staci invited me to go to the desert to go offroading. She new that I had never done it before, and thought it would be fun to show me something that she had grown up with. When Staci and I get together hilarity always ensues. Even just looking at us, we are such an odd pairing of friends. She stands at a small but powerful 5'2 (ish) and I am 5'10, so wherever we go we look like Arnold and Danny (although you are much cuter than Danny Devito Stace;). I think she's standing on something in this picture, it doesnt give an accurate depiction of the tininess lol.

It was only a two hour drive (who knew?) to the "campsite" and we got there just after dark. Her parents greeted us with a cozy fire next to a beautiful motorhome (it should be said that the O'connor's really know how to camp). We sipped champagne and talked around the fire. You could see every star in the sky (I highly recommend the planets app on Iphone..it tells you what you are looking at) there was a slight breeze, and the smell of the fire was delicious. I love that my hair smelled like fire for two days.

The next morning our adventure began ( or what Staci will here on out refer to as the longest ride of her life). I had no idea what a "rhino" could do...its pretty amazing. They go incredibly fast and can literally crawl up the side of a mountain. I had so much fun I could not stop smiling, so much so that I ended up with a good amount of dirt in my mouth. We drove around for a solid four hours exploring the desert. My little friend Staci, I must say, is no delicate flower behind the wheel I can assure you. I was exhausted by the time we were done but it was so worth it. I had a great time trying something new and I can definitely see myself doing it again. Thanks O'Connors!
